Mac

Direct download and in-app updates. Version numbering for the Mac app started at 1.0.1.

Mac 1.0.31Latest for Mac

  • Less disruption from large Plex libraries. Routine library checks, guide planning and syncing your stations now take regular breaks instead of running flat out, so they are less likely to hold up the music or delay Next, Skip and thumbs.
  • The app does less work while a song plays, and the channel guide checks its saved programmes in one batch rather than station by station.

Mac 1.0.30

  • Next, Skip and Less act once per click. Clicking again while the next song is loading no longer jumps ahead several songs: the buttons show “Loading next track…” until it plays, and Pause or Stop cancels the change.
  • Choosing another song while one is still loading always plays the one you picked last, and a fully downloaded song that is slow to buffer is retried rather than skipped.

Mac 1.0.29

  • Thumbs down now skips. It records the dislike on the station and moves straight to the next song. A disliked song stays off the air, the button remembers it if the song comes round again, and clearing a thumb now reaches your other devices.
  • Steadier station starts. Starting a station from a song no longer shows “Paused” while it loads: the bar says “Loading…” or “Buffering…” instead. A double-click can’t create two stations, and Up next fills reliably.

Mac 1.0.28

  • Hot Hits on Your Radio. A new card beside Today’s Journey and Fresh Takes plays one genre’s Hot Hits station, built from the songs you rated 3★ and up, and moves on to the next genre each time you open Your Radio.
  • The Hot Hits stations stay in the channel guide under Genres, so you can tune them from either place. Thumbs and the station’s programme are shared.

  • Your next songs stay yours. Unplayed radio queues keep their order across days and app restarts.
  • TuneFalls quietly checks Plex for library changes, so opening the guide doesn’t start another rebuild.
  • When relevant music changes, station pools refresh while valid queued songs stay in place. Only songs that are removed or no longer fit the station are replaced.
  • Playing and skipping move through the queue. Fresh picks are added at the end.
  • Discover more ways to listen with 25 Activity recipes, including Reading, Cooking, Walking, Running and Sleep, offered where your library has matching music.
  • Fresh Takes artwork follows its actual next song, and Tune by mood remembers whether you left it expanded or collapsed.

  • The Moods lens now offers up to 25 stations, without taking any away from your genres.
  • The channel guide shows what it is doing while today’s programmes are planned, station by station.

  • Station programmes and queues now only carry songs that fit the station, and mood stations vary their programme from day to day.
  • Fixes decade stations that could stop when a song had no recorded decade.

  • Radio Stations now lists every channel in alphabetical order when All is selected, so it’s easier to find the one you want.

Mac 1.0.21

  • Closing the window while TuneFalls keeps running in the Dock no longer brings up an “Object has been destroyed” error a few minutes later.

Mac 1.0.20

  • TuneFalls now opens wide enough to keep the player controls on one row.

Mac 1.0.19

  • TuneFalls now fits a smaller window. Long song titles, artists and albums wrap instead of running off the edge, the artwork shrinks to make room, and in a narrow window the player controls move onto a second row rather than pushing the app off screen.

  • Albums and songs are now tagged with their moods.

Mac 1.0.17

  • Everlasting radio. When a channel runs out of similar songs it keeps going with random picks from the whole channel, in no fixed order, so a station never ends and never settles into the same loop.
  • Plex star ratings on Now Playing. See, set, change or clear a song’s rating without leaving TuneFalls.
  • Plays now count on your Plex server like any other player: TuneFalls appears in Plex’s Now Playing, play history and dashboard.
  • Fewer back-to-back songs by the same artist on any radio station: an artist you have just heard sits out the next few picks whenever the station has other songs to choose from.
  • With no Plex account connected, TuneFalls now opens on the Plex sign-in so it is the first thing you see. Tick “Don’t remind me again” if you use TuneFalls with your own music files and would rather start on Now Playing.
  • If macOS is blocking TuneFalls from reaching a Plex server on your home network, the server picker now says so and offers an “Open Local Network settings” button that takes you straight to the switch, instead of leaving a healthy server looking unreachable.
  • The From-your-listening tiles (On Repeat, Fresh Takes and the rest) now each wear a different album cover, so they no longer look like copies of one list.

Mac 1.0.16

  • New: “Fresh Takes”, a From-your-listening station that plays only songs you haven’t heard yet, chosen to fit what you play most. It falls back to your usual mix rather than going quiet when there’s nothing new left.

Mac 1.0.15

  • When your Plex sign-in expires or is revoked, TuneFalls now recognises it everywhere — on launch and whenever playback or a station fails — and takes you straight to sign in again, instead of getting stuck reconnecting or showing a confusing “couldn’t start playback” error. Songs already downloaded keep playing while you re-sign-in.

Mac 1.0.13

  • Radio stations no longer stop with “no candidates” after a Plex hiccup: a failed lookup is retried instead of being remembered as an empty station.
  • Small stations that have played through every song now cycle back through them instead of going silent.

  • Recently played songs are kept in a local cache, so playback keeps going through Plex outages and reconnects in the background.
  • Radio autoplay starts reliably and plays are counted more accurately.

  • The stations dial refreshes mid-session when a sync or mood update reshuffles your stations, keeping the old dial visible while the new one builds.
  • Genre stations are sized in proportion to your library, and you can set how many stations the dial holds.
  • Activity stations use real song-mood data.
  • Fixed a stall on first play over a stale Plex connection.

  • New: Appearance setting in You lets you pick System, Light or Dark.
  • If your Plex server has more than one music library, you now choose which one to use when you connect.

  • New: "Enhance library" button in the You tab fills in richer genres and moods for your albums and queues newly heard tracks for mood analysis.
